Northwest Camp Summer Activities

Spring Work Party, Saturday May 1st, 2010 from 9 AM to 5 PM Help spruce up the cabin for the summer with members of the NW Camp Committee. Limited FREE cabin/tent space available from 12 noon Friday, April 30th thru 12 noon Monday, May 3rd. Leave No Trace Trainer Course,
Saturday and Sunday, June 5-6th, 2010. Conducted by CT-AMC chapter education committee LNT Master Educators for those who value the land and want to teach others how to protect and preserve it. Tuition: $50. Includes lodging, meals and class materials. 9 AM Saturday to 4 PM Sunday. Limited to 8. See Education page application.

Perseid Meteor Shower Weekend, Friday-Sunday, August 13-15, 2010. Limited FREE cabin/tent space available from 12 noon Friday, noon Monday. On Saturday, enjoy a 6-mile hike at 1pm (B#B) down to a unique old-growth forest and a small waterfall in Sages Ravine with nationally know arborist, Matthew "Twig" Largess. Yankee magazine named Largess "Tree Preservationist of the Decade". In January, a book was published about his life by Shamus Flaherty titled "Treehugger" (AuthorHouse Publishing). Saturday night will consist of a group hike (C4B) to view the annual Perseid Meteor Showers. Short hike up trail to summit of Mt Riga at night requires headlamp. Bring liquids, bathing suit for wading in waterfall, food for camp dinner and pad to lay on while viewing meteors. No dogs please. Leader may change hike itinerary based on weather.
