The Harry Duren Scholarship was established by the Connecticut Chapter of AMC in memory of Harry Duren, a very active long-time member. The scholarship provides outdoor experiences to financially challenged young people from Connecticut, ages twelve to eighteen. The money is to be used to pay for one week during the summer to attend one of three AMC teenage camps. In order to qualify the teenager must show an enjoyment for the outdoors, in particular: hiking, biking, boating, rock climbing, or trail work. The candidate must be a Connecticut resident, get along with his peers, be able to follow orders. Deadline for nominations is December 1st each year. |
